SIXTY SECONDS TO SUCCESS is a compilation of more than 100 tips collected from
Bright Moments’ radio broadcasts and TV seminars with experts working in self-help
fields of performance and behavioral change. The reader may select any of these tips
to quickly jump start their day and, where desired, end each evening in order to
focus and move forward with high-priority, sincerely-intended, actionable goals.
One starts with daily objectives and writes down the action steps needed to reach
an objective which increases the motivation to do more.
Each tip offers the reader a set of questions, and related options, that can be
used to break-up negative moods, rigid routines, apathy, and "give-up" experiences
by prompting one’s self to consider more valued alternatives and optimistic
directives. The reader individualizes and rewards the taking of action steps,
or combinations of steps, which, when repeated and rewarded consistently over
time, can motivate and cement them into a pattern of perceived personal control
and "success." With more success, one opens up one’s life to even more challenge,
learning, meaning, and improved performance.
I especially enjoyed tips dealing with motivation: for examples, taking on BIG
projects to stretch, explore, and visualize success; more risk taking; the need
to improve one’s health; the necessity of skills to change bad habits (e.g.,
stop smoking, lose weight, etc.); the need to reach out for expert feedback and
trustworthy help; the willingness to get out of one’s "comfort zone;" and other
ways to improve mood, morale, and self daily, rather than seek perfection or wait,
without working, for success and a consideration of questions like: 1) What did
I do today that I must stop doing, in order to improve? 2) What didn’t I do today
that I must start doing, in order to improve? 3) What did I do today that I should
continue doing, in order to get better? 4) Did I take action on each of these
questions?
SIXTY SECONDS TO SUCCESS is a timely, handy, self-paced work. The tips can be
used by any one in a variety of proactive ways, settings, and circumstances.
The psychological principles of learning, motivation, mood regulation and
individual performance underscore the book’s face validity, general applicability,
and the versatility of the tips.
If you take the tips to heart, do the personal work, and keep taking action,
you will have more improvement and much "success" in the process. I highly
recommend it!

Review by: B. Cox, managing editor The Midwest Book Review
Sixty Seconds To Success is specifically designed by Edward Smith to
enable his readers to quite literally change their lives by getting
(and staying) motivated, staying focused, utilizing time management,
and setting achievable goals. Smith draws upon his experience as a
motivational speaker and the host/producer of the cable television
show "Bright Moment" where he interviews top peak performance/success
experts. He has distilled into this remarkably "reader friendly" book
a series of quick, action-oriented tips and techniques for how to live
life better and more personally fulfilling. Also included are methods
for handling fear, increasing productivity, and in general, living just
the kind of life that suits the reader's abilities and circumstances
best. If you only have time to read just one self-help book, then make
it Edward W. Smith's Sixty Seconds To Success. It's about the best
investment of your time that you could make and will benefit you for
the rest of your life!
