The motivational experts cover such topics as time management, overcoming setbacks, setting goals and so on. What particular issue are you working on that causes you to study what motivational experts have to say? |

Mine is overcoming setbacks. I have a tendency to take on too much, start things and not finish them, and feel like a failure when I don't succeed at something.
I get a lot out of messages that are encouraging and give strategies for getting things done. |

Hi Jens, I understand how you feel, I want to do a lot and sometimes it feels like it all fell apart. Give yourself credit for taking on all the things you are working on, and also give yourself credit for what you are learning from the things that didn't turn out the way you wanted. Focus on the things that are going right and the positive that will come of it. Remember the 80/20 rule that says 80% of the payback comes from 20% of what you do, and focus on the high payback jobs first. That way you can take a few things off your plate and keep tighter control over what you do. Good luck, Ed. |

Thanks, Ed. That's kind of been my thinking, though I also have a couple of other systems I use to parcel my time.
I also recently have decided not to use the word, "failure" in reference to anything I don't finish up or accomplish. I have chosen to substitute "setback." Why? Because "failure" is a brick wall. That's just it. "Setback" implies you're temporarily distracted, but will pick things up later. That has made a world of difference for me.
